Games Proposal - Game Studio Superfan - Splash Damage Week 2 by Chris Lomax

During the past week I have covered: Enemy AI (ranged & melee), character health bar with a proper ammo UI & a heath pack that enemies drop. I created a timer system (that doesn't work as intended at the moment, so I'm going to speak to Pete about it to see if we can solve it. If not, the game can be played without it). The goal of the timer would be, for example when you start the game, the timer will start to countdown every second, starting at 10 minutes. If you die, a minute is taken off. If you give kill enemies / save survivors, time will be added on.

The issues I have, is when the player dies, the timer starts again and overlaps the old timer. For some reason 9:59 never shows, it goes 10:00, 09:00, 09:58. And lastly, when the player kills an enemy, it adds 10 seconds, but for example, if the time is on 08:58, it would go to 08:68 (which is incorrect). So there's three issues I have there.

However, lets talk about the good parts! So I've managed to knuckle down on a lot of other blueprints / mechanics that work. I have taken wall run out of the game as it doesn't fit it (but I'm going to use it in my next project instead!). Lastly, I've managed to blockout the level to a standard I am happy with. Again, I'm going to ask for feedback on level design (if they want me to use basic block colours for the whole level and are low poly props relevant...)

(I made a mini excel sheet covering the stats that an be easily adjusted. I created this to track how to balance the enemies along with the character you are playing as).

I will attached an image of the top down view of the level to showcase my work. However, I will upload an mp4 and exe. to my development work to showcase the mechanics and ui in action, along with the old level (that I have massively improved on). Regarding the original level. As my game is base on Gears Tactics (which is a part of Gears of War). I went for the open play area. However, it did not work due to my basic AI and also it didn't really guide the player. So I rearranged it to make it more linear and it suits the game much better, which I am proud of. (This mp4 & exe. will be in my development folder for reference so you can see the difference and changes that were made.

As I have a similar question from my other project, I'm going to ask if they want me to make my level look more detail and neater (which in my opinion isn't really relevant as my main focus is on level design and ensuring that part is fun. But if it will improve my grade, I will try my best to make it look detailed).

If there's anything I've missed out, I will ensure to put it in my development folder!
